Seven islands with some of the best beaches in Greece ( or even the wordl) becoming one with the green nature, creating unique images. Picturesque villages and cosmopolitan spots, mixed with history and tradition, and traditional ” kantades ” in the bakcround. Kephalonia, Zakynthos, Corfu, Lefkada, Paxos, Ithaca and Kythira. All of them beautiful Ionian Islands, which one will you choose for this summer?

Objectively, the Ionian Islands are quite similar in terms of morphology, vegetation, but also in general in the philosophy and the core of the people who are possessed by the well-known Ionian “madness” and the explosive temperament. However, each of the islands has something different to offer and the sure thing is that depending on what type of traveler you are, there is the right island for you!

Choose Corfu if…

you want to be in Italy for a while (without leaving the borders). The old town of Corfu is of unique beauty and the walk in the narrow alleys ( kantounia )will be a memory that will accompany you forever. An island with Italian finesse, many philharmonics, ideal for lovers of history. You can rent a car and discover all its wonderful beaches and picturesque villages.

Choose Paxos because…

It is obligatory if you are in Corfu to spend at least one day on the tiny island of Paxos, to swim in Antipaxos and to feel the relaxed vibes of this cosmopolitan island. One of the best choices from the Ionian Islands for the summer.

Choose Zakynthos if…

you like to have fun but also want to enjoy unique beaches and landscapes! The fiore di levante as we say it , is where you will find the famous Shipwreck but also the other well-known beaches of Laganas, Tsivili and Argassi where the carreta-carreta turtles lay their eggs. Welcome to Zante!

Choose Kefallonia if …

you are looking for peace, relaxation and swimming on one of the best beaches in the world, the famous Myrtos. Also, don’t forget to visit Petanoi, Xi, Antisamos and so many more. Meet some picturesque settlements such as Assos and Fiskardo and drink your cocktail at night in Argostoli. The largest island in the Ionian Islands, has managed to keep the island clean and qualified for great vacations.

You can choose some amazing day trips from Kefallonia ( bare in mind that a photo in Myrtos beach is a must).

Choose Ithaki because..

you will be one of the few who will know the magic behind this relatively unknown island. Access from the nearby island of Kephalonia is very easy. But once you set foot on the island you will understand why Odysseus was struggling to get back. It is impossible not to fall in love with the cultural Kioni or Vathi and all the tranquility and warmth that the island exudes. Thank me later.

Choose Kythira if…

you want to be somewhere between the Ionian, the Peloponnese and Crete, on a small island that will remind you more of the Cyclades than the Ionian. Traditional off-white settlements between steep cliffs and awesome beaches. Ideal destination for those who want to have a quiet vacation near nature.
